Wedding vs elopment
Should you have a big party or an intimate gathering?
Look, attending a huge wedding can be a LOT of fun, but if the thought of planning a huge event (and spending thousands of dollars) is just not you, then consider this your permission to DO IT YOUR OWN WAY! I love weddings (duh!) but I love seeing couples actually ENJOYING their day so much more! You're only planning it once so why make it extra stressful?
​ELOPEMENTS: Did you know, traditionally an elopement meant a couple ran away and got married in secret without parental approval? The Audacity. Of course, we all want our family to accept and love our life partner, but there is certainly no longer the social pressure or stigma around parents approving of a marriage! These days, we could consider an elopement the choice of a couple to get married with the smallest number of people involved - usually just their celebrant, photographer (if they choose) and a couple of witnesses. ​​
MICRO-WEDDINGS: My all time favourite! Now, there is a plethora of information out there citing how many people make a wedding "micro". In my *humble* opinion, a micro-wedding is an intimate gathering of your most IMPORTANT humans. People you would genuinely miss if they weren't there to celebrate your big day. I love providing ceremonies for micro-weddings: there's enough people to create an exciting atmosphere, whilst being able to keep your ceremony tight (15-20 mins). We don't need to bore them with the details of how you met, they already know! Let's skip to the best bits of your fabulous life together!
WEDDING: I mean, all of these are weddings. But for this purpose, a wedding would be a larger gathering. This could include extended family, several friend groups plus partners, your childhood babysitter - the sky is the limit. Your ceremony for a larger wedding could include a little more story-telling about you and your boo, wedding party participation, or a little bit of drama (like a killer aisle entrance/outfit reveal!) Even if you aren't a fan of the spotlight, we can make you shine without having to do too much!
